Plastering (Skimming)
Skimming involves applying a two-coat plaster mixture by hand. Skimming results in a flawless, glass-like surface that’s ready for painting or wallpapering. Here’s how we do it:
- Surface Preparation: We work on various surfaces, including plasterboard or existing walls. If it’s a new plasterboard, we directly apply the plaster mix. For existing walls, we first apply a PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) bonding agent and then perform an over-skim to achieve a smooth finish.
- Hand Application: Our skilled team meticulously applies the plaster mixture by hand. We ensure even coverage and a consistent finish.
- Final Touch: Once the plaster has dried, we sand it down to achieve a perfectly level surface. The final result is a clean, flat finish that enhances the overall aesthetics of your space.
Float & Set Plastering
Float & Set is a traditional plastering technique that ensures a solid foundation for finishing. Here’s how it works:
- Backing Plaster Application: We start by applying sand/cement or hardwall backing plaster directly onto brick or block walls. This backing layer provides structural integrity and a stable surface.
- Rule Off: After the backing plaster has set, we use a straight edge (a “rule”) to level the surface. This step ensures that the wall is perfectly flat and ready for the next layer.
- Skim Coat: The final step involves applying a skim coat over the levelled surface. This thin layer of plaster provides a smooth, paint-ready, professional-gradefinish.
